Q. What is the relationship between Descry and Gideb?

Descry is our company name and it means ‘to catch sight of’ or ‘to be enlightened.’ However, since the meaning of Descry can be unfamiliar, we established Gideb as our brand in Korea. Gideb means ‘to lean on me’ in a shorter hipper way. Gideb!

Q. What social venture branch is Gideb associated with?

In October 2020, Gideb was appointed by the Ministry of Health and Welfare as a preliminary social venture.

Q. Where do you provide these services?

Our company’s HQ is in Korea and we primarily provide these services here. However, we have strong partnerships with organizations in the US and if possible, will make arrangements to fulfill your requests.

Q. Where do the self-assessment tests come from?

We have 3 separate iTests:

  • Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scales (DASS) from the University of New South Wales in Australia to measure negative feelings
  • Mood Disorder Questionnaire (MDQ) from Dr. Robert M.A. Hirshfeld MD of University of Texas Medical Branch for a timely and accurate measure of bipolar disorder
  • Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) from World Health Organization (WHO) to identify persons with hazardous and harmful patterns of alcohol consumption

Q. Why is it important to have an independent search for professional mental health care?

We do not receive or accept any funds or other incentives from any mental health care facility or provider. We believe it’s important for people to have independent searches and accessibility to mental health care because your decision shouldn’t be based on which company pays more for ads or any promotional gimmicks.

Q. Why is online journaling important to mental health?

Overwhelming research have shown that coupling in-real-life therapy and journaling is the most effective in recovering from mental health issues and living well.

In addition, we have interviewed dozens of mental care professionals and 93% of them have said they strongly recommend their patients to write in a journal daily. In most instances, a visit to your therapist or counselor occurs every 1-2 weeks and each session is for 50 minutes. Consequently, your care provider will read your handwritten journals, listen to you speak, and actively respond all at the same.

With our app, you can share your iJournals and moods in advance (free for both parties). Your care provider can review them before your session, saving time and perhaps making your session more efficient.

Q. What is AWH?

AWH stands for Achieving Whole Health and its purpose is exactly that. Our AWH workshop encompasses 3 life domains (Body, Mind, and Spirit) and is conducted online in a group setting. We firmly believe all 3 life domains play a big part in a person’s whole health and wellbeing. There is a strong correlation between the life domains so when one suffers, it can lead to a domino effect. Which is why, our workshop is a fun, creative, and interactive way to educate and discuss this relationship and help create healthy habits and goals.

Q. How much does the wellness workshop (AWH) cost?

The Achieving Whole Health (AWH) workshop is for 3 days, 2.5 hours per session and is currently on sale with a 25% savings at 200,000 KRW (approximately $180 USD), which includes a state-of-the-art smart band.

This feature (iCare) becomes unlocked in your app once payment is complete.
